Vision
Space Environment Technologies’ vision is to enable human evolution into space.
Mission
To make our vision a reality, we are improving the quality of life on Earth by reducing adverse effects of space weather on humans, our planet, and our technology. With support from our partners, we’ve built an ecosystem of complementary products and services that combines leading-edge space physics models, unique operational data feeds, innovative instruments, and observing platforms found nowhere else in the world.
What is SpaceWx?
“Wx” is a standard abbreviation for the word “weather”. Thus, “SpaceWx” is “Space Weather”.
History
2001: Space Environment Technologies is founded
SET signed a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with NOAA Space Environment Laboratory for producing operational solar irradiances, establishing it as a founding company in the field of commercial space weather. Additionally, SET has been an active member of the U.S. Technical Advisory Group for Space Systems since its inception.

2005 : Space Weather and Research Associates divisions formed
For independent researchers affiliated with SET.

2006: Planetary and Space Sciences Division Formed
In this year, SET also acquired Space Infrastructure, Inc. and merged it into SET’s Infrastructure and Standards Division. SET continues to be an Executive Board member of the derivative Space Infrastructure Foundation. Additionally, a research group from University of Southern California led by Prof. D. Shemansky joined SET to form its Planetary and Space Sciences Division.

2010: SET becomes Executive Committee member of American Commercial Space Weather Association
Along with other member companies, SET strives to promotes space weather mitigation for critical national infrastructure related to daily life, economic strength, and national security.

2019: SET joins the University of Colorado Boulder’s Space Weather Technology, Research and Education Center
A catalyst site for space weather research and technology development organizations across the Colorado Front Range

2020: SET and West Virginia University sign a HASDM Database Use Agreement
SET commits to furthering scientific research in upper atmosphere physics. In this year, SET also lent its experience in space systems and space environment standards to the community by participating on the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Standards Committee.

2021: SET and the Republic of Korea Space Weather Center signs international MOU
An agreement to provide information related to the radiation environment at aircraft altitudes related to human tissue exposure.

2022: SET and World View Enterprises sign an MOU
An agreement to provide instrumentation for the measurement of radiation at stratospheric balloon altitudes as it relates to human tissue exposure.
