What is SpaceWx?

“Wx” is a standard abbreviation for the word “weather”. Thus, “SpaceWx” is “Space Weather”.

History

SET signed a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with NOAA Space Environment Laboratory for producing operational solar irradiances, establishing it as a founding company in the field of commercial space weather. Additionally, SET has been an active member of the U.S. Technical Advisory Group for Space Systems since its inception.

In this year, SET also acquired Space Infrastructure, Inc. and merged it into SET’s Infrastructure and Standards Division. SET continues to be an Executive Board member of the derivative Space Infrastructure Foundation. Additionally, a research group from University of Southern California led by Prof. D. Shemansky joined SET to form its Planetary and Space Sciences Division.

Along with other member companies, SET strives to promotes space weather mitigation for critical national infrastructure related to daily life, economic strength, and national security.

A catalyst site for space weather research and technology development organizations across the Colorado Front Range

SET commits to furthering scientific research in upper atmosphere physics. In this year, SET also lent its experience in space systems and space environment standards to the community by participating on the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Standards Committee.

An agreement to provide information related to the radiation environment at aircraft altitudes related to human tissue exposure.

An agreement to provide instrumentation for the measurement of radiation at stratospheric balloon altitudes as it relates to human tissue exposure.
