HASDM

SET’s High Accuracy Satellite Drag Model is the gold standard in baseline measurements of upper atmospheric density.

SET HASDM Thermospheric Density Database

The SET HASDM Density Database provides the most accurate long-term record of Earth’s upper-atmosphere density released for scientific use. Covering January 2000–December 2019 (solar cycles 23 and 24), the database offers global density values every 3 hours, mapped on a 10° × 15° latitude/longitude grid with 25 km altitude steps from 175–825 km. It is openly available through a SQL database for the research community. Extension of the SET HASDM Density Database till 2025 coming soon…

Click the button below to access the 20-year SET HASDM Density Database. The link opens a simple request form where you can specify a time range—and optionally latitude and longitude—to extract data directly from the database. To maintain server performance, each request is limited in size. If you need full or large-scale access to the complete database, please email data@spacewx.com with “SET HASDM density database access request” in the subject line.

The HASDM database covers two full solar cycles, with 3-hour time resolution, 10°x 15° latitude-longitude bins, and 25km steps between 175-825 km altitude, from 2001/01/01-2019/12/31. The data is derived from radar observations from multiple calibration satellites.

SET provides data access free of charge to international science community for research purposes only. Commercial uses are permitted only through an explicit agreement with SET.
